Chaney’s Mr. President (Teddy)

Farm nickname Teddy, hails from the well known Chaney’s Dexter Cattle Farm in Tennessee.  In addition to bringing some fresh genetic diversity to Michigan, Teddy’s incredibly calm and docile temperament are among his many remarkable attributes.  Like our Jolleen, Teddy also comes from lines of Dexters threading the needle as excellent beef and dairy cattle.  Teddy is A2/A2 and homozygous polled.  No more disbudding calves with this bull behind our herd! Bean Homestead Leo

Leo is our up and coming  A2/A2, Homozygous polled, red Dexter bull. We are very excited to bring on this new set of genetics. We traded one of our bull calves with Carl Bean from the The Bean Legacy Homestead for Leo. Haven Creek Farm Jolleen

Jo comes from excellent breeding stock out of SGF lines from Haven Creek Farm.  She is homozygous polled and homozygous for A2/A2 milk proteins.  She is a non-chondro and a non-PHA.   She has the genetics for a top quality dual purpose cow. Look at Jolleen’s ADCA pedigree here.  Jolleen calved for the first time in the Spring of 2023, and we were very happy with the results she had a bull calf that is going on to be a herd sire at Bean Legacy Homestead. She proved herself as an amazing mother and a great milker! We will be retaining any heifer calfs Jolleen produces for sometime. She is in our eyes the perfect Dexter! J&L’s Tilley’s Sweet Pea (Pippi)

Farm named Pippi is an A2/A2, heterozygous polled, red dexter heifer. Pippi is a very special cow she is pending registration in 2 registries (Legacy dexters, and PDCA) and is already registed in the ADGA (her pedigree is here). Pipi calved for the first time this year and she and her calf look amazing! J&L’s Fiona’s Shayna (Katinka)

Farm named Katinka is A1/A2, and hetero polled, shown here with her calf as a 2nd freshener. Mi Sweet B Lily Of the Valley

Lily is our 3rd calf we have registered as Dexter breeders. She is a sweet little calf that is A2/A2 and homozygous polled. She has great genetics from J & L Fionna’s Shayna (Katinka) and Mr. President and we are really happy to keep her in our herd. What were excited to see Lily’s coloring, she is red with a black nose, which we have never had on our farm before. The black nose is associated with what is referred to as a wild type red allele. Altenburg’s Emma 

Emma is an A2/A2, Polled, red dexter cow. She is unique to our farm as she is our first AI heifer. With Freedom Farm and Bernath Farms genetics she should be an exceptional producer for our farm.  MI Sweet B Dr. Quinn

Dr. Quinn is a A1/A2, genetically Horned, and she is the first heifer that was born on the farm. Dr. Quinn was retained from our first Dexter cow Temple and is the first Dexter we registered as breeders. Like her mother DQ is a spicy little cow. Falling near the bottom of the pecking order she is the “ideal” Dexter, she is not short legged (Non-chondro) You can see her pedigree here. Dr. Quinn is bred to Leo for a spring calf in 2025. Grace Hill Honey

Honey is A1/A2, homozygous Polled, and red in color. She is a non-chondro carrier, and you can see her pedigree here. Honey is so cute and small,  we are so excited to see what her calf will look like next year! She is such a sweet cow and we are excited to see her udder next year.

Lipperts Jesse

Jesse is A2/A2, and homozygous polled, you can observe her pedigree here . We will be breeding Jesse with Leo in the summer of 2024, for a 2025 calf! Jesse is bred to Leo for Spring 2025 calving. Lipperts Hattie

Dr. Ramoray (Retained)

Dr. Ramoray is out of our Dr. Quinn, and Mr. President. She is obigate hetrozygous polled and non-pha and non-chondro carrier.  She is currently being tested for A2 A2. Dr. Quinn was one of our first born and raised Sweet Briar Farm dexters she and Mr. President is our amazing bull, he is calm and well behaved. Dr. Ramoray will be halter-broken and weaned at 5-6 months of age.

Dbl Dutch’s June BH (Junebug)

Junebug is also a chondro-carrier she is a polled, BLUE EYED ,red dexter cow! When Mike saw a picture of this beefy little girl he instantly took a day trip to put a deposit on her. Millie (our token Jersey cow)

Spring 2024 calves

We bred Millie to Mr. President and Millie is due in spring of 2024 as a first freshener. Hopefully she has babies that are as cute as she is. Millie is our only jersey cow, purchased as a bottle baby, she quickly attached to the family and acts more like a really large dog than a cow. Hubba Hubba 

Hubba Hubba is out of Lipperts Hattie. He is our newest bull, he is obligate A2 A2 and Homozygous polled. He is currently being tested for wild red coloration, and he has a black nose. We are very excited to watch him grow.

Lipperts Lydia 

Lydia is our new dexter heifer she is from the Lipperts. See her pedigree here. Her Dam is Lipperts Holly, and her Sire is Euchee’s Creek Red Amos.She is wild red, and a noncarrier for chondrodysplasia. She is also a noncarrier for PHA. She is A2 A2 and homozygous polled.

MI Sweet B Gandolfini

Gandolfini is our first registered Bull calf and was one of those calfs that looked exceptional from the time he was born. He quickly developed into an excellent herd sire candidate. Our original plan was to keep him and breed him to a few of our cows before selling him as a proven herd sire. However, we worked a deal with Bean Legacy Homestead and traded Gandolfini for Leo. We will be keeping our eye on Gandolfini and providing updates on him via our YouTube Channel. Photo to the left is gandolfini a year later.
